After spending a week with family for Christmas, I have a couple more days off work before I return to life. I use this time each year to reflect, intensively, and determine how to proceed in the new year. It’s been an effective tool for several years.
When I say it’s an intensive review, I’m not kidding! We have several parts of our lives we should reflectively review. I start with prayer, inviting the holy spirit to help me remember what went well and what didn’t, in each of these categories: physical and mental health; joy, peace, laugher and rest; finances; spiritual growth; relationships; career; and serving a purpose.
I then reflect on my written words to see patterns or words that could determine an overall message. I will find a “word” for the year that will help lead me in each area I need improvement.
Next, I list changes needed and plan a schedule, with realistic steps, to accomplish over the year. Lastly, I determine what “clutter” needs removed from my home, car, office – anywhere anything has piled up from the previous year, and plan an attack on it!
It’s amazing how the spirit will bring to my attention problem areas I need to work on, and more importantly, what to let go. Without this resolve each year, I would simply do the same ‘ol thing and then wonder why I get the same ‘ol results. Not anymore!
I love this process so much, I want to share it with you in a 4-week class called Entry into 2020. This is a group class, so invite friends you believe could use this, too. We will meet Tuesday’s at either 10:00am or 7:00pm, and can start at anytime your group decides. We can meet in person, or by video chat from the comfort of your home.
