My youngest grandson, Z-man, saw his picture on a Christmas tree ornament. He pointed to it and then pointed to himself, making this connection at 16 months old. I find that fascinating!

Of course children are excited about the anticipation of presents, magical holiday events with lights and songs, elves on shelves and stockings hung by the fire. But they are most excited about sharing this time with you. See the sparkle in their eyes when they squeal with excitement and turn to you for affirmation you see them. None of this would matter to them if they couldn’t make this connection with you.
Connecting through relationships is what Christmas is about.
God came to us in the form of a child, a baby, so he could touch us in human form, kiss our cheek, laugh with us, cry with us, comfort us. Jesus modeled how to connect with each other, serve each other, love each other. How we connect to this baby determines how we connect to all other relationships. Do we look to our Lord with excitement like a child, or have we let the world take over our hearts and miss the magic of this moment?
We thank you, Sweet Lord, for showing us what matters, as we celebrate our connection to you, and to others, this Christmas!
