My granddaughter, Whoopie, saw this tree in the lobby of a station before we rode the Christmas train. Her eyes lit up as the lights sparkled and the ornaments glistened. I didn’t notice the beauty around us as I searched for the ticket counter, making sure she and her brother were close by. But when I saw her face, I hurriedly captured the moment, bent down to her level, and looked at this tree as she saw it. It was magical!
Look around you this Christmas season through the eyes of a child. Don’t miss the special moments, the passing twinkle, the heartfelt greeting of a passerby. Look into a child’s face and watch her expression. Look at what she sees and feel her excitement. It will open your tired, hurried, stressed eyes to many special moments. Let go of anything keeping you from the magic of Christmas and fully participate in the spirit it brings.
