I texted my youngest daughter with a simple question. She turned it into a conversation, admitting it was a distraction from homework on her masters degree. I played along for awhile, then had to ask, “Alright, girlie, is break time over?”, feeling like a mom again!
It’s been four years since she graduated from college in December, married her wonderful husband in February, went on their honeymoon, and from there, the final destination – Alaska! She not only left the nest, she went so far I couldn’t just show up on her doorstep!
So began my dissent into a depression that lasted most of that year.
God had begun working on my heart to change careers years earlier, move to another state, and be available to him. I had several excuses not to, including my children still needed me. But now, they were all gone. He proceeded to let my life be so miserable I had to confront the inevitable and be obedient to His call.
I began a journey to uncover all the confusion in my heart, determined a purpose in Life Coaching, began the process of quitting my lucrative career, selling our home, moving to another state, and getting certified as a Life Coach and Marriage Facilitator. Most by the end of that same year!
