The Midwest has had more than its share of rain this spring. We live in Oklahoma and when sirens go off, we’ll stay alert, but rarely take cover. Two separate tornados touched ground nearby sending us to our shelter – twice in one night! We’ve seen the waters rise, as we live on a lake, and were told when our backyard flooded in 2015, this doesn’t happen but every 100 years. Has it been 100 years already, cuz it’s up to our patio again!?! And guess who’s having an outdoor luncheon in her backyard this weekend?
This is one of three curveballs I’ve been thrown in the last two weeks on three different events I’ve been working hard to complete. What do you do when it gets too hard? Who has time for more work to fix the problems?
God is working hard on my heart to keep going when the going gets tough, as I usually give up. He told me to GIVE this year, without expectation, so I’m trying to be available. He’s also working on my attitude as he knows when I let negativity kick-in, I lash out, which does nothing but make it harder! We’ve talked a lot about how I can move forward, positively, giving up the way I wanted it, but making it happen nonetheless. That’s not easy for a perfectionist!
I’m giving up control, giving up negativity, giving up the perfect outdoor setting of long, beautifully decorated tables for an outdoor luncheon – but not giving up on the goal. And I am not doing it alone!
