Over several days at the beginning of the year, I complete several exercises. Not physical exercises, although I do need that! I spend a day reflecting on the past year in very specific areas. Then I review what I wrote, looking for patterns of words to determine My One Word for the new year. Lastly, I set forth a plan for any changes I need to make, with My One Word at the center of each change.
The topics I concentrate on are health, relaxation, peace, joy, finances, spiritual growth, relationships, career, and serving my purpose. I don’t need a total life makeover and some of these areas are going well. Simply subtle changes.
The My One Word exercise has specific questions to answer, which I include with my reflections, to determine a word that will be front-and-center throughout the year. My word is GIVE. More specifically, GIVE WITHOUT EXPECTATION. Whew!
My plan includes GIVE myself physical activity each day. GIVE myself healthy eating habits for the year, not just the first few months. GIVE more money to others in need, without expectation. GIVE more time to specific relationships, without expectation. GIVE more quiet time to hear God’s direction, without expectation. Don’t GIVE up on my purpose, although it may not look how I want. It’s a plan of intention that is refreshing, gives me peace of mind, allows subtle changes to become better, and is doable.
If you want to experience this reflective understanding of the past, with an intentional plan for the future, join me for 5-weeks in the group class Trampoline into 2019. I will guide you through this process, with results.
I have a few spots open for the class beginning January 10th, either in person or by video chat. Or, join me in February as I continue to offer this opportunity monthly. Grab your friends and go on this journey together!
