I spent a good deal of life thinking I was meant to lead large groups. I knew I had administrative skills that I kept plugging into support roles, but always felt out of place. I am detailed and can manage projects well, big or small. My problem was, I didn’t understand my other strengths of compassion, intuition, encouragement and what to do with them. I didn’t realize my core values of family, relationships and being in Christ-like service meant serving women in those roles as wife, mother, sister, daughter. I knew what my spiritual gifts were, but didn’t realize how important the gift of prophecy would be in boldly seeking truth in others, and relying on the gift of encouragement to give hope. And it wasn’t until I worked with women in small groups or one-on-one that I fully understood my value was in this realm and not leading or teaching large groups. I need to be able to look them in the eye, give them a comforting touch on the arm, and hug them.
I went through a life coaching process that helped me dig deep into who I am, what my life experiences have been, embrace my strengths, spiritual gifts, values and passions. I am able to use each one in my undoubtedly, God-given purpose of being a Life Coach. I am incredibly grateful to get off the train of unknowing and stop searching for ways to matter.
