If you were asked, “What are you called to do with your life? What is your purpose?” what would you say? Do you know?
Many people spend most of their lives making that determination. We job-hop trying to find that niche that fits our character. Or volunteer in different arenas with the intention to serve others. Move in-and-out of relationships to feel like we matter. Or hang on to our children, as adults, because our lives revolved around them. We spend lots of money on places to vacation or live, things to wear, and gadgets that make us feel great – for a moment.
With intentional understanding of what our strengths, core values, spiritual gifts and passions are, we can serve a purpose with meaning, excitement and energy! We know where to spend our time and who to help. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?
If you feel stuck in fear, are emotionally exhausted, or can’t make a decision, you just need a little direction. If you are grieving a loss of a relationship, (which includes children leaving the home) or a job, (which includes retirement) or physical ability, (which can come with age) these can be roadblocks that keep you from a meaningful journey. If you have thoughts of being unworthy, or failing, or incompetent, this is stinkin’ thinkin’ and needs eliminating so you can live as God planned.
Serving a purpose allows us to thrive in life and makes getting out of bed each day a thrill!
