In the last few months, we’ve seen more snow than usual, especially in the southern United States, including San Antonio, Texas; February thunder and lightning storms; spring weather…for a day; four Nor-Easter’s; hail damage in March which typically starts in April! It’s no wonder our mood is swinging from high to low.
When you want to escape the craziness, where do you go? Where is that island where the temperature is 72 degrees year-round?
Whether you physically go somewhere or simply escape in your mind, how long does that removal from reality last? When you come back, has it helped, or are you right back in the same place you were?
Beware of Destination Addiction.
When we think the next trip, next relationship, next move to another place, or new job, will bring us happiness. Or on a smaller scale, the impulse meal, binge-watching a series, performing for an audience, or shop-til-you-drop. Sure, it’s great in the beginning and while you are doing it, but what happens when the newness is over or it ends?
What if it’s possible to be happy where you are and with who you are, so you don’t need that next “temporary high?”
Are you needing to get off the Crazy Train?
